Six Indian boxers reach finals at Asian U-15 Boxing Championships

Hyderabad: India’s U-15 boys delivered a strong performance in the semifinals of the Asian Boxing U-15 Championships 2026, with six boxers advancing to the finals and seven securing bronze medals in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

In the 33kg category, Yash Kumar registered a dominant 5:0 victory over Kiyan Iqbal of UAE to reach the final. Sastha Vasanth Ashok Kumar (37kg) secured a strong win by RSC in the second round against Aziretali Sanzharbekov of Kyrgyzstan.

In the 43kg category, Samir Bohra produced a composed performance to defeat Adizbek Ilkhombekov of Uzbekistan 4:1. Sudarsan Vasudeva Chandak (52kg) impressed with an RSC win in the opening round against Amirmahdi Shad of Iran.

In the 58kg category, Mohd Yasser recorded a convincing 5:0 win over Seyyedariyamohammad Mousa of Iran. Ronak Parag Lokhande (67kg) rounded off the winning performances with a first-round RSC victory against Mukhammadali Berdikulov of Kyrgyzstan.

In other semifinal bouts, Rohit Pothina (35kg) lost 0:5 to Zhaksylyk Yermekuly of Kazakhstan, while Nitin (40kg) went down in a close 2:3 bout against Jasurbek Khayrullaev of Uzbekistan.

Nongpoknganba Meitei Oina (46kg) lost 2:3 to Mansur Abdukhamitov of Uzbekistan, and Parshant (49kg) suffered a 0:5 defeat against Sardor Omonboev of Uzbekistan.

In the 55kg category, Harshvardhan Jeena lost 0:5 to Nurislam Baktubayev of Kazakhstan, while Dev (64kg) went down 1:4 against Hyeonseok Yoo of Korea.

In the 70+kg category, Sushant Jayani lost by RSC in the first round against Ibrokhim Mirzakarimov of Uzbekistan.

With six finalists confirmed and seven bronze medals secured, the Indian U-15 boys’ team will now aim to convert their strong performances into gold medals in the finals.
